Zillis

The Romanesque church dedicated to San Martino (945 m)

Zillis hosts the Romanesque church dedicated to San Martino (12th Century) with its world-renowned ceiling.
153 wooden panels in perfect condition illustrate the life of Christ but set within the context of a typically Medieval view of the World.
At the centre of the town is a permanent exhibition dedicated to the unique Romanesque ceiling.
Zillis also represents an ideal setting off point for a short excursion to Schamserberg, the sun-kissed terrace of Val Schons, dotted with unspoilt villages and well-known for the Wergenstein Center da capricorns (the centre of the ibex).
